A Monopoly musical? It could be hitting Broadway stages sooner than you think

Araca Group, best known for co-producing hits like Wicked, has just signed on with Hasbro to work on Monopoly: The Musical

Movie adaptations of board games haven’t always fared so well in the past. We all remember Battleship, and while 1985’s Clue has built a small underground following today the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes state it’s nothing to write home about.

So Hasbro has decided to take their games in a different direction. Instead of the silver screen, they’re hitting the open stage.

According to Playbill.com, Monopoly is the latest Hasbro game to get its own star treatment in the form of a Broadway musical. Titled Monopoly: The Musical, all that’s known about it is that it will involve audience interaction. Everything else has been kept under wraps.

Everything except for the excitement.

“We are excited to work with The Araca Group to bring Monopoly to life on Broadway and across the country,” said Simon Waters, a General Manager and and Senior Vice President at Hasbro. “Monopoly is one of the most iconic gaming brands of all time. Hasbro is dedicated to delivering new and exciting ways for consumers to interact with all of our brands, and this stage adaptation will do just that; offering fans a unique and immersive experience for people of all ages.”

Surprisingly, Monopoly getting star treatment isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds. With humble beginnings in 1903 and a start-up during the Great Depression, The Independent noted that Monopoly is currently sold in 103 countries around the world in 37 languages, making it the best selling board game of all time.

And this isn’t the game’s first attempt at Hollywood stardom either. Universal Pictures were developing a Monopoly-based movie before dropping out in 2012. And while it’s a small victory, there was a fun Monopoly game show in the 1990s on ABC-TV.

Plus, with a big company like Araca behind it, who co-produced Wicked, the idea may stand a chance. Araca Group CEO Matthew Rego sees potential in the humble board game, and cannot wait to work with such a classic family game.

“We are thrilled to work with Hasbro and extraordinarily talented creative minds to develop a stage adaptation of Monopoly,” said Rego. “Araca has always been committed to bringing material to the stage that thrills audiences’ imaginations, touches their hearts and ignites fits of laughter. Being given the opportunity to do so with iconic Hasbro brands such as Monopoly was almost too good to be true.”

Electric eel myth confirmed after 200 years

The local fishers took thirty wild horses and placed them in an eel-infested pool.

Electric Eels were described as Living batteries by 19th century German, scientist Alexander von Humboldt. The story goes that he went to collect them in South America to collect the fish. He asked the locals to help him catch them due to his inexperience in the practice.

The local fishers took thirty wild horses and placed them in an eel-infested pool. The scientist said that the Eels jumped out of the water and got into direct contact with the horse to defend their pool. Many horses died, but in the end, the eels had used up all their charges and could be easily extracted.

The story has always been disregarded as a folk tale. But Kenneth Catania, a neurologist, was pleasantly surprised when he discovered that the myth was, in fact, plausible. As he was moving the eels to a new aquarium with a net, he noticed that the fish would jump out of the water to “fight the net,” much similar to the von Humboldt story.

“I thought, this is a crazy tale from 1800 that’s probably totally exaggerated, if not possibly false,” he said. “The Eels would periodically turn around and change from not wanting to be near the net to explosively attack it by leaping out of the water up the handle.”

Catania explained that this was not a hunting technique, but a different mechanism. He explained that under water their charge was a bit lower because of the poor electric retention abilities of water. But with direct contact as the fish leaps out of the water to the supposed assailant the voltage is suddenly more intense. He explains that this was a perfect example of how fish turn a habit into character.

Expert: Many Ghostbusters haters have similar political views

Some fans believe that such a film is a classic, and no remakes should be made.

The latest Ghostbusters movie is set to be released soon. However, suffice many experts believing that it would be one of the biggest movies released this year, it has also got one of the worst negative reviews ever for any film.

Some fans believe that such a film is a classic, and no remakes should be made. However, movie expert and critic Judd Apatow understands that there is a different reason for all the hate the movie is receiving. He believes that many of the film haters have one thing in common.

“I would assume there’s a huge crossover of people who are doubtful Ghostbusters will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy,” he said. “I would assume they are the same individuals. That movie is made by the great Paul Feig and stars the funniest people on Earth so that I couldn’t be more excited. I think people have paid too much attention to just some angry trolls. And it will be judged on its greatness.”

Suffice his views being set extremely broad, other movie critics say he may be right to some degree. Trump supporters have been noted to be more conservative and looking to “take America back to the glory days.”

The Ghostbusters remake changes the whole concept of the original movie and makes it an all female lead cast. This may not have gone well with many of the people, especially from the older generation who idolized the original film.

Prince toxicology report released, cause of death revealed

Toxicology reports for legendary pop star, Prince, indicate that he died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl.

Toxicology reports for legendary pop star, Prince, indicate that he died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl.

Fentanyl is a powerful, synthetic opioid analgesic that is often prescribed by doctors for cancer treatment. Prince is not reported to have been suffering from cancer.

Fentanyl can also be made illegally. According to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration home made Fentanyl can be 25 to 50 times more powerful than fellow home made and illegal narcotic, heroin, and 100 times more powerful than morphine.

Investigators have not yet disclosed whether they believe Prince was prescribed Fentanyl by a doctor or how he had obtained the uber potent synthetic.

Prince, who was found unconscious April 21 at his Paisely Park music studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota, was listed at five foot three and 112 pounds at the time of death.

Under the question, “How injury occurred”, the coroner listed “the decedent self-administered Fentanyl. For the question of “Manner of death” on the report, the coroner marked a box labeled “accident”.

According to Cable News Network, the full toxicology report and official autopsy findings will not be released.

Although many close to Prince raved about his clean lifestyle and zealous devotion to his Jehova’s Witness faith, since his passing, rumors of his prescription drug abuse have surfaced.

Scientists develop part artificially and living leaf to generate power

A group Scientists from Harvard seem to have cracked the code in creating artificial photosynthesis more efficient.

Fossil fuel is the primary source of electricity for many regions of the world. It is easy to produce and cost effective making it a logical answer to the need for power. However, fossil energy is also the lead cause of global warming and the rise in the sea level. For this reason, scientists have been toying with a way to get cleaner energy. A group Scientists from Harvard seem to have cracked the code in creating artificial photosynthesis more efficient.

The part-microbe, part-microbe leaf has panels that receive the sunlight. The panels are adjusted to microbes that have been genetically modified to combine hydrogen and carbon dioxide to form an alcohol compound. When the alcohol complex is burned, energy is created. The result of this process is usually just water which does not harm the environment.

Artificial photosynthesis is not a new concept. All the same, it works much like the same way as natural photosynthesis. “We have tried to use the same idea plants use to create and store energy,” said one of the researchers on the project, Pamela Silver. “Plants mostly store their energy as starch, and we store it like alcohol.”

The scientists believe that this innovation will certainly help in controlling global warming as it extracts 180 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour. But this is still not efficient enough to make it commercialized. The scientists are now looking for a way to split the hydrogen molecule by itself. This would result in the creation of a lot more energy. The only problem that stands before them is finding a nonnuclear way to break the hydrogen molecule.

Experts argue Xmen franchise may be dying off

The latest Xmen movie apocalypse was thought to be the savior of the Xmen franchise.

The release of the latest Xmen movie, Apocolypse has raised concern for the franchise. In 16 years, Fox has produced eight Xmen movies. Through these films, Fox has jumbled up story lines. They first released Xmen, Xmen 2 and Xmen United.

Many argue that these first movies were the best of all the Xmen movies. The plot was continues and straight forward. Film critics always state that sometimes simple story lines make the best movies, this worked well for the first Xmen films.

The company then released Xmen: Wolverine Origins. They attempted to explain Wolverine’s origin in this movie. It was also well received by the fans with relevantly good reviews. However After this, Xmen decided to revamp the whole cast and took the movie setting in the past.

“The time travel and change of cast may have done more harm than good for the Xmen,” said famous movie critic Graeme McMillan. “But even then they had a chance to make a great movie, but they seem to be getting worse with each movie.”

The latest Xmen movie apocalypse was thought to be the savior of the Xmen franchise. It rode the wave of Captain America, as that both are Marvel movies. However, the movie seems to have drowned in the wave as the reception has been poor.

But it may have been just poor release time for the movie. After the releasing DeadPool and Captian America: Winter Solder, the bar was set extremely high. This year has seen the release of some of the most memorable movies. Many great movies would be considered flops if they were released during this period.

Wife of Johnny Depp accuses him of abuse, files for divorce

Amber Heard, the wife of Johnny Depp, filed for divorce on grounds that the actor has been abusive to her.

Amber Heard, the wife of Johnny Depp, filed for divorce on grounds that the actor has been abusive to her.

Heard, who has been married to Depp for approximately 15 months, filed for divorce on May 22 and alleges that he abused her throughout the marriage.

“During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me,” claimed Heard according to court documents.

In official court documents, she claimed that on May 20, Depp pulled her hair, screamed and hit her with a cell phone.

“Johnny ripped the cell phone from my hand and began screaming profanities and insults at iO [a friend of Heard],” recollected Heard. “I heard iO yell at me to get out of the house.”

“Johnny then grabbed the cellphone, wound up his arm like a baseball pitcher and threw the cellphone at me striking my cheek and eye with great force,” continued Heard.

Heard, 30, was granted a temporary restraining order as a result of testifying about two separate incidents in which Depp physically abused her.

On one occasion, Heard suffered a black eye, presumably, and as reported by Heard herself, of domestic abuse from Depp.

Representation for Depp claimed that Heard was trying to speed up the legal proceedings so that the court would order Depp to pay spousal support.

“Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse,” claimed an attorney for Depp according to the court documents.

Depp has not personally responded to the allegations from Heard of domestic violence.

Hugh Hefner deposed in Bill Cosby sexual battery lawsuit

According to a civil rights attorney, Hugh Hefner, the founder and chief executive officer of Playboy Enterprises, was deposed May 20, 2016 in the sexual battery civil lawsuit against comedian, Bill Cosby.

According to a civil rights attorney, Hugh Hefner, the founder and chief executive officer of Playboy Enterprises, was deposed May 20, 2016 in the sexual battery civil lawsuit against comedian, Bill Cosby.

The attorney in question, Gloria Allred, represents Judy Huth, one of 50 women claiming that Cosby victimized and abused them sexually.

Huth accused Cosby of sexually molesting her at the Playboy Mansion when she was 15 years of age. She alleges that Cosby “took her hand in his and performed a sex act on himself without her consent.”

On May 16, 2016 Hefner was sued by Chloe Goins, a former model who accuses Cosby of sexually abusing her at the Playboy Mansion in 2008.

Goins, who claims she was drugged by Cosby, accused Hefner of being complicit in the sexual abuse, stating that he should have known that Cosby had a history of drugging and sexually abusing women at the Mansion.

Goins recollects being 18 at the time of the assault and remembers Hefner introducing her to Cosby at a Playboy party. She also remembers feeling sick after being given a drink by Cosby and later waking up naked to Cosby biting her toes and her breasts “wet and sticky, as if someone had been licking them.”

“Because there is a protective order in place, we are not at liberty to discuss any part of Mr. Hefner’s testimony. We look forward to our day in court, after criminal proceedings against Mr. Cosby are concluded,” said Allred.

Neither lawyers for Cosby nor spokespeople or lawyers for Playboy Enterprises commented on the claim from Allred.

Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris break up

After dating for over a year, Taylor Swift and Adam “Calvin Harris” Wiles have broken up.

After dating for over a year, Taylor Swift and Adam “Calvin Harris” Wiles have broken up.

According to E! News, multiple sources close to both stars have confirmed the breakup.

“This all happened last week,” remarked one source.

Many fans of one or both of the musical stars had become fans of their highly publicized romance. There was great lamentation over the split throughout social media in the hours following the news.

“Taylor and Adam had no big blowout fight, but the romance just was not there anymore for them,” said a source.

“Adam is the one that ended it. It was all done in a very mature fashion,” continued that source. “Taylor is pretty upset but they are still in communication. Taylor was there for Adam with his accident and supportive.”

The accident referenced by the above source is a car crash involving Calvin Harris on May 20 that caused the music producer to cancel several shows.
