Taliban takes credit for Pakistan bombing

The bombing has left over 230 wounded while 72 have been confirmed dead thus far.

An Islamic suicide bomber attacked the capital of Pakistan over the Easter Sunday. The explosion happened in one of the biggest public parks in the country and is believed to have been targeting Christian families who had picnicked at the garden to celebrate Easter. The bombing has left over 230 wounded while 72 have been confirmed dead thus far.

The Taliban splinter cell in the country, Jamaat Ul-Ahrar has taken credit for the attack. The country has long suffered from such extremist groups. “It was our people who attacked the Christians in Lahore, celebrating Easter, ” said a spokesperson from Jamaat-Ul-Ahrar. “It’s our message to the government that we will carry out such attacks again until sharia is imposed in the country.”

The prime minister of Pakistan quickly rushed to the area which is also a strong political hold to pay his respect. He stated that the goal of the country was not to remove just the extremist groups but the extremist mindset. He believes that the mindset is the main culprit of too many extremist groups and not what it stands for.

Reports are claiming that the bomber is a 26-year old man called Muhammad Yousaf Farid. Forensic investigations confirm that his bombing vest had about 20 pounds of explosives in it. The explosives were also packed with ball bearings a technique used to ensure maximum death toll by suicide bombers targeting an open place. With so many victims the government of Pakistan is offering free rides to individuals who wish to donate blood for the victims.

Woman arrested on conspiracy to join ISIS

A woman from Mississippi is set to plead guilty to charges of conspiracy and intent of joining ISIS.

ISIS has long used two primary strategies to persuade people to join their group. The two main strategies they use are fear and wealth. This has worked for many people, but they seem to have developed a new approach using love and relationships.

A woman from Mississippi is set to plead guilty to charges of conspiracy and intent of joining ISIS. She is also accused of intent to share information and material with the militia group. Delshaun Young is scheduled to appear before a court in Aberdeen.

Delshaun Young was arrested with her fiancé Muhammad Dakhlalla, a 23-year-old student from the Mississippi State University. They met at the University when they were both freshmen. Delshaun Young studied chemistry and Muhammad Dakhlalla graduated in psychology in 2015.

What has puzzled the court is the joy she receives from the terror attacks, she seems to derive a lot of pleasure from creating fear. “What makes me feel better after just watching the news is that an akhi carried out an attack against US Marines in TN,” she said. “Alhamdulillah, the numbers of supporters are growing.”

The couple was arrested at the Golden Triangle Airport in Columbus as they were about to board a plane to Atlanta. They would later go to Syria for the completion of their recruitment into ISIS. The Militia group would then send them back to the US as sleeper cells after training. ISIS has now more sleeper cells than ever before, making it tough to fight them or even identify them.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez romantic evening

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber were spotted horseback riding in his hometown in Canada.

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber were spotted horseback riding in his hometown in Canada. The pop stars are apparently back together and rode horses with several people, including a bodyguard and Bieber’s father. Photos of the romantic holiday were posted on Instagram. Gomez looked happy and Bieber sported a cowboy hat.

The couple had an on-again, off-again relationship for the past few years. They started dating in 2011, but broke up in late 2012. It appeared that the stars got back together earlier this year, but split again. Bieber, 21, has gained notoriety in recent months for his wild and childish antics, including brushes with the law. Gomez meanwhile has done well in her career with music and films. The 22-year-old is rolling out her own fashion line for Adidas NEO, and will be promoting it in New York this September. The couple looks to be together again after splitting during the summer.

The couple arrived in Ontario on a private jet holding hands. They then went to get takeout at a nearby restaurant. The horseback riding trip took place through the wilderness with photos online for fans to see. Gomez also apparently met Bieber’s family on the trip. The two are reconnecting and have tabloids keen on what happens next. Some are concerned for Gomez due to her boyfriend’s bad boy behavior, wondering if he is a bad influence. Nonetheless, the couple looks cozy in their photos.

Bieber promised her that she would have a weekend full of surprises, and Gomez had a happy trip. The stars are remaining coy on their relationship status, not revealing much. The photos show affection, but Gomez isn’t defining anything. She is spending time with Bieber and enjoyed her vacation in Canada. Fans will wait and see if they get serious again.

Should you see “Straight Outta Compton?” The whole world says yes

“Straight Outta Compton” is opening in theaters all around the world to exceedingly positive responses – the numbers don’t lie.

Inspired by the harsh conditions brought upon American city streets during the crack epidemic of the 1980’s and 1990’s, NWA burst onto the West Coast music scene and revolutionized the sound of hip-hop forever. According to a report from Parade, the new biopic film on the group, “Straight Outta Compton,” tells the story of “gangasta rap” and how it took the country by storm.

In the film, actors portray Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, DJ Yella, and MC Ren as the masterminds behind the tough, street-inspired sound of rap in Compton, Los Angeles in the late 80s. Themes in the music ranged from crime and drugs to police brutality and systemic racial discrimination.

The film opened in the U.S. on August 14, and earned more than $60 million at the box office in its first weekend. It has hovered near the number one spot at the box office, crossing the threshold of $100 million in sales before the weekend.

Now, fans in Europe, Asia, and even the UAE are getting excited for the film to be released in their home countries. NWA and its contemporaries have gained worldwide fame through the messages in their music. While it may sound harsh on the outside, there are valuable lessons to be taken from the lyrics.

The film attracted controversy when viewers were shocked by the brutal portrayal of certain women in the film, but the producers wanted it to be a testament to the times during which NWA rose to fame, about which there were regrettably many harsh feelings.

Society’s obsession with Apple and Steve Jobs explained

Alex Gibney’s documentary on the life of Steve Jobs takes a different direction to explain an obsession

Apple products are considered by many the must-haves of technology. They represent power and social status, and people line up by the thousands to get them as soon as they are released.

Even Steve Jobs saw celebrity status that every day coders and engineers don’t normally get a taste of.

“He didn’t write code, he wasn’t an engineer, and it certainly wasn’t simply the fact that he made a lot of money,” said Alex Gibney, director of the documentary Steve Jobs: Man in the Machine.

So where does this obsession with Apple and the company’s late co-founder stem from? After his death in October 2011, many have documentary and presented his legacy, but Gibney has a different question.

“Let’s try to understand something very simple: Where did all this public grief come from?”

According to Gulf News, Gibney’s documentary is the first of a tribute to Jobs to come out this year, while another, directed by Danny Boyle and starring Michael Fassbender, will be coming to the big screen next month. However, Gibney’s film takes a closer look at what it is society finds so appealing about Jobs and Apple.

Man in the Machine shows  another side of Steve Jobs that viewers may not be familiar with. Those who idolize him may be in for a shock when they hear less than gleaming testimonies from his colleagues and Jobs’ daughter. The company itself hasn’t made any major statements about the film.

Gibney explains that while someone’s personality might not live up to the greatness associated with them, it’s important to still address their shortcomings as a reality.

“As a society we seem to have made a compact that if they do great things we should let them off the hook. It seems so misguided. If we think this way we’re either going to be radically misinformed or disappointed.”

He added that what Jobs represented was as much of a factor in his public appearance as his personality.

“He understood how to create a connection between us and machines. When you view it that way, it makes sense.”

Batman v Superman: dawn of film critic disapproval

The highly awaited, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which opens nationwide on Mar. 25, 2016, has already met with mixed, nonplussed reviews from film critics.

The highly awaited, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which opens nationwide on Mar. 25, 2016, has already met with mixed, nonplussed reviews from film critics.

The film, which stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, and Jesse Eisenberg, expects to do very well at the box office, but film critics have questioned the colossal film from director, Zack Snyder.

“Why, oh why, can’t we just get what we came for? That is, a good, meat-and-potatoes showdown between a brooding vigilante in a pointy-eared mask (Ben Affleck’s Batman, a.k.a. asocial rich guy Bruce Wayne) and a simpler, sunnier protector of humankind (Henry Cavill’s Superman, who, when he’s not in tights, struts around in criminally sexy horn-rimmed glasses as reporter Clark Kent),” asks a review in Time magazine.

“Batman v Superman lunges for greatness instead of building toward it: It’s so top-heavy with false portent that it buckles under its own weight,” continues the Time review.

“It is an informercial. It is slick, and it is frequently very pretty, and from scene to scene, from moment to moment, it looks like a real movie. But without a beating heart, this is a wax figure, lifeless and frozen, a simulation,” reads a Hitfix review.

“The studio asked Snyder to make them a 150-minute trailer for their entire slate of superhero films, and he certainly did. Sadly, like most infomercials, this one promises more than it delivers, and two-and-a-half hours of being hustled left me cold. Whatever it’s selling, I’m not buying,” continues Hitfix.

Many believe that despite the criticisms, Warner Bros. will continue in the BvS vein, as estimates of their bottom line are very healthy.

President of SAG-AFTRA and star of “The White Shadow”, Ken Howard, dies at 71

Kenneth “Ken” Howard, president of Screen Actor’s Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the star of the 1970’s television show, The White Shadow, has died at age 71.

Kenneth “Ken” Howard, president of the Screen Actor’s Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the star of the 1970’s television show, The White Shadow, has died at age 71.

The cause of his death, which was announced by his union Mar. 23, 2016, has yet to be released.

In possibly his most well known role, Howard played the white coach of a mostly black team in the critically acclaimed CBS drama, The White Shadow, which aired for three seasons from 1978-1981.

Howard, six foot six himself, drew from personal experience in preparing for the role. He played basketball at Amherst College and was the only white player on his Manhasset High School basketball team in Long Island, New York.

Howard had a distinguished career in acting on the big screen, silver screen, and stage. His career spanned over forty years. He was a mainstay as Adam Bonner, playing against his connubial opposite, Amanda, as portrayed by Blythe Danner, in the ABC series, Adam’s Rib, based on the movie of the same name.

40 years later, Howard played the role of Hank Hooper, boss of the Alec Baldwin-portrayed Jack Donaghy, in the NBC comedy, 30 Rock.

Howard also had roles on television shows including Law & Order: SVU, NYPD Blue, Crossing Jordan, The West Wing, Curb Your Enthusiasm, the American The Office. Boston Legal, and The Practice.

“It was an honor,” wrote George Clooney of working with Howard. “Today his obituary read that he was six foot six, but he was so much taller than that.”

Soft robotics a reality

He is seeking to make robots more elastic and stretchy. The material is made of hyperelastic and emitting hydro-gel.

When you think of robots, the first thing you visualize is a metallic humanoid android with rigid movements and squeaky sounds. You just have to take a look at Boston Robotics to have a real vision of what direction robotics are taking. The company is working on robots that would be used for rescue services and army operations.

But Chris Larson is looking at robotics at a whole new angle. He is seeking to make robots more elastic and stretchy. The material is made of hyperelastic and emitting hydro-gel. The material can stretch up to six times its normal size while it can change up to six colors.

“Why is this important?” said Chris Larson. “For one thing, when robots become more and more a part of our lives, the ability for them to have an emotional connection with us will be extraordinary. So to be able to change their color in response to mood or the tone of the room we believe is going to be necessary for human-robot interactions.”

The research team believes that in a world with more robotics, having the robot, change color towards the human emotion or the surrounding will help better enhance the human-robot synergy. The soft robot moves in a crawling manner in a swift, efficient way. This would also help it enter places impossible for the typical rigid robot.

There is a possibility of combining the two kinds of robots to get a hybrid with the power of metallic robots and the swiftness and flexibility of the soft robots. Apple is also looking into it in making their gadgets such as the Apple watch become more in tune with the human features.

Golden State makes it a clean sweep of the L.A. Clippers in their season series

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 114-98 on Mar. 23, 2016 to complete a season sweep of the Chris Paul led title contenders.

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 114-98 on Mar. 23, 2016 to complete a season sweep of the Chris Paul led title contenders.

The last time the Clippers were swept by the Golden State Warriors was in the 1985-1986 NBA regular season, where the two teams met a total of six times. They only faced each other four times this year with Golden state winning by an average of seven and a half points per game.

“It was kind of a dead atmosphere in there and it didn’t seem to have the same energy of the rivalry,” said Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, of the game. “For whatever reason tonight didn’t have the same juice.”

This continues the domination the Warriors have shown over the entire league, but more strikingly, the teams at the top of the standings.

Golden State is now 15-1 against the other top four teams in each conference. Their only loss came to their principal rivals for the NBA crown, the San Antonio Spurs, whom they will face twice more this season.

Before the LAC-GSW tilt, Kerr announced that his team would actively avoid resting players in order to set the NBA regular season wins record and achieve the overall number one seed in the 2016 NBA playoffs.

Steph Curry scored 33 points and picked up a technical foul in the game against the Clippers after throwing his mouthpiece.

“That’s kind of the impulse because I want to talk and I can’t talk with a mouthpiece in,” said Curry of his outburst.

Robert Griffin III has officially signed with the Cleveland Browns

Former Washington Redskins star, Robert “RGIII” Griffin, has signed a deal to join the Cleveland Browns for the 2016-2017 NFL season.

Former Washington Redskins star, Robert “RGIII” Griffin, has signed a deal to join the Cleveland Browns for the 2016-2017 NFL season.

Griffin, whose star rose meteorically in his first season in the NFL, had his career sidelined by injury. He ultimately lost his starting job with the Redskins to Kirk Cousins, a quarterback selected by the team in the same draft as RGIII.

The move of RGIII to the Browns is believed to be a good fit for both sides by pundits. Griffin gets a new start and a fresh slate and the Browns, who have been seeking a suitable quarterback for over a decade, have a welcoming setup for the once explosive quarterback with offensive guru, Hue Jackson, at head coach.

On Mar. 24, 2016, the Browns and NFL media confirmed that Griffin and the Browns had agreed to a two year, $15 million deal with $6.75 guaranteed to Griffin. Ian Rapoport reported that RGIII will receive a $3.5 million signing bonus and a salary of $7.5 million in 2016.

“We are excited about Robert joining the Cleveland Browns,” said Hue Jackson. “He brings starting experience to our team and organization. He’s a young, athletic, talented passer and he’s really just starting out in this league. Just like every player on our team, Robert will have to earn every opportunity he gets. He will compete with the rest of the quarterbacks on our roster and he helps improve our QB room, which was one of my goals upon taking the job. It’s a special room and we want to put special people and players in that room.”
